The wind has blown the fence down!
After high winds we usually have a flurry of telephone calls from clients asking, who owns the fences at their property, who is responsible for putting them back up or replacing them, and can we please check their ‘deeds’ for the answer? This may seem simple enough, but the answer is in fact rarely straight forward.

Law Society warns that consumers are at risk from unregulated Will-writers
Consumers risk losing everything if they allow unqualified and unregulated will writers to have full control of their estate’s assets.

Legal Aid news from Wards’ specialist solicitors
Local law firm, Wards Solicitors is proud to announce that the firm was successful in its recent application to continue to do legal aid family work. These new Family Law Legal Aid contracts will run from 1st February 2012 to 30th November 2013.

Stamp Duty and the First Time Buyer update
Chancellor George Osborne’s Autumn Statement has confirmed that first-time buyers stamp duty concession or ‘holiday’ will end on 24 March 2012 as planned and will not be extended, as the government says the relief has been ineffective in increasing numbers of first time buyers entering the market.
