Biography

What was your first-ever job?

I was a dustman before I got promoted and became a caretaker.

What was your worst ­experience as a trainee?

Seeing my first ever divorce client, a young woman, who immediately said: “I need a divorce as my husband fancies pigeons more than me.” I had to literally bite my tongue to stop myself bursting into hysterics while the poor woman cried.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you have been? >

I’d probably be a surveyor but being a rock star sounds like more fun!

1978: Joined Wards as a trainee solicitor. Initially a general practitioner mainly working on Family, Property, Wills and Probate files. Eventually specialised in the financial aspect of divorce cases
