Biography

What was your worst experience as a trainee?

Advising at a drop in centre. Turning up to find a room full of people with queries on a wide range of subjects, in many of which I had no experience, was a challenge. “I’ll speak to my colleague who specialises in this area and get back to you” was often the answer.

What book are you currently reading?

‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ with my daughter every night. ‘Cracking the Enigma Code’ in my spare time. Reading the book that is, not trying to crack it from first principles.

If a movie was being made about your life, which actor would play you and why?

Ewan McGregor. I bear no resemblance to him but if we are in the realms of imagination that’s not important. A fine actor who gets to go on motorcycles trips for months at a time. Something I can only dream of at present.
