That’s pedal power – 200 miles in two days for Parkinson’s UK

Sometimes it was cold, sometimes it was wet, just occasionally it was sunny - Wards Solicitors' James Taylor took it all on the chin to cycle 200 miles in two days to raise more than £900 for Parkinson's UK.

Partner James, a disputes specialist and office manager at Wards Solicitors' Bradley Stoke Office, started with a 100 mile organised cycle ride from Bristol to Oxford, including the famously steep climb from Nailsworth to Minchinhampton Golf Course in the pouring rain.

Keeping his spirits up were members of the Parkinson's UK event team but James confesses this ride was 'probably the hardest 100 miles of my life'.

Cambridge had been the intended destination for the following day but a forecast of gale force winds and driving rain put paid to that.

Instead, James made up the missing miles by riding 105 solo, unsupported miles from his home in Winterbourne to his old home town in Waterlooville, Hampshire less than a week later - and this time the sun was shining!

James says: "It was tough but I was more than happy to keep on pedalling for a charity that does so much to fund research into Parkinson's disease and support those diagnosed. I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored me."
