Wards makes great strides for charity

A team from Wards Solicitors has raised more than £350 for charity, by completing the annual Nailsea and Backwell Rotary Charity Walk.

Rebecca Purchase, Richard Green, Amy Jones, Kelly Leggett, Julie Hurley and Janice Baldwin, all from Wards' Nailsea office, took on the 10k challenge by walking through some of Somerset's most picturesque countryside, in order to raise funds for Off the Record, Wards' Charity of the Year.

Due to Covid-19, the Challenge was run as a 'virtual' event this year, with groups signing up to complete either a 5km, 10km or 20km walk on a date of their choice.

Around 200 people walked one of the three routes on the main day, October 11, to raise funds for their nominated charities.

Rebecca Purchase said: "We were delighted that the event was able to go ahead this year, and we were lucky enough to enjoy glorious sunshine on the day. This is a brilliant event in the heart of the community we work in, and a very valuable opportunity to raise funds for a worthwhile cause."

It is the ninth year of the sponsored walk, which has raised more than £150,000 for charities since it was first held.

There is still time to donate to the team's fundraising page, available here.
