Wards Solicitors with several branches in Bristol and the surrounding area are celebrating the success of November’s Will Aid campaign.
The firm took appointments to draft more than 250 Wills and to date have raised over £13,800 for the Will Aid charities by asking clients for a donation instead of billing them for the usual fee. The suggested donation was £75 for a single basic Will and £110 for a pair of mirror Wills.
Jenny Pierce, Head of Wills, Probate and Mental Capacity team, said:
“Many of our Will Aid clients said they had previously been worried about seeing a solicitor but that actually they had quite enjoyed the experience. This is why Will Aid is important to us. As well as enabling us to support the Will Aid charities, if gives us the opportunity to show clients that we are approachable and caring. We can also demonstrate the value of using a qualified and experienced professional to write Wills.
We are delighted to have raised so much money for the Will Aid charities to help fund their vital work here in the UK and around the world helping people to transform their lives. We are also pleased that the campaign has encouraged so many local people to write their Will and so save families and loved ones from the strain of intestacy.”
Iain McAndrew, Head of Legacies at Save the Children and Chair of Will Aid, said:
“On behalf of the nine Will Aid charities, I would like to publicly thank Wards Solicitors for all their hard work and for being such enthusiastic supporters of Will Aid. It is a real achievement to have drafted so many Wills for clients to raise this enormous sum in just a few weeks. The participating charities are really grateful for the life saving work this makes possible.
We’d also like to thank all those people in the Bristol area who were motivated to make their Will with Will Aid.”
