Ruth Palmer and Jan Thorne picking up the award at the presentation ceremony
If you’re a regular follower of our ForWards blog, you’ll know that we have been competing in the Sue Ryder Big Wigs Challenge. Along with many other local businesses, we put together a team and received our £50 start-up fund. The challenge was to use this £50 and turn it into the biggest sum possible. If you’d like to find out a bit more about the things we did, click here.
Well, it took a fair bit of imagination and hard work but the challenge was a huge success – with Wards team members from across the offices working together to raise money. Special mentions go to Jan Thorne, Ruth Palmer, Jess Williams, Suzanne Henderson, Susan Langley, Georgina Hughes, Donna McLoughlin, Lucia Mills, Tom Scoffham, Elizabeth Fry and Joanne Turner.
On 17th February we put on our glad-rags and went off to the Sue Ryder Awards Ceremony. At it Sam Boardman announced that an incredible £45,550 had been raised by the participants. A great job, all round. The total raised by Wards solicitors was £6,982, putting us in second place overall, and winning the Sue Ryder South West Entrepreneur Award 2011.
Jenny Pierce, Head of the Wills and Mental Capacity team said, “This is a really great result and a big thanks goes to the support of staff and their families. Special thanks goes to the Committee for their contributions in terms of time and money.”
