Howzat! Cricket pro James Bracey to the rescue

Some tips from professional cricketer, James Bracey, didn't go amiss when Wards Solicitors' cricket team put in some much needed practice ahead of their regular friendly against Christie & Co.

To be honest, our team needs a little help and guidance when it comes to upping our batting average. We've been going head to head with Christie & Co, specialist advisor in buying and selling businesses, since 2001 now and our cricketing track record is slightly less than enviable.

In that time, we have only held the Wards Solicitors Christie & Co Challenge Cup twice, first in 2003 and then again in 2013, the last time the match was played.

But frankly, we'd like to hang on to the cup, which we proudly display in the reception area of our Broad Street, Bristol office and have grown rather fond of. So we felt the time was right for a little expert tuition.

Great innings

James Bracey, who signed his first professional contract with Gloucestershire Cricket Club in March and scored an impressive 156 runs against Glamorgan recently, was happy to lend a hand when the team pitched up at the County Ground.

Partner Tom Scoffham said: "It was fantastic of James to give up his time to impart some advice which will hopefully greatly improve our chances of retaining the cup. We owe him a big thank you for all his help at what was a fantastic practice session."

The team is still busy training for the match which will take place on July 25. We will keep you posted!
