A winter’s tale in Weston-Super-Mare – helping the hungry and homeless

  • 14th Dec 2018

For those without a bed to sleep in or enough money to put food on the table, Christmas doesn’t always feel like a time to celebrate.

That’s why staff in the Wards Solicitors’ Weston-super-Mare office wanted to help by collecting toiletries, treats and meal vouchers for people staying at a new night shelter in the town as well as supporting the local Trussell Trust foodbank.

The night assessment centre opened at the beginning of November in a bid to keep people off the resort’s streets this winter.

Based in the Somewhere To Go unit in St John’s Hall on The Boulevard, it has ten beds and offers referred rough sleepers a safe place to stay overnight and somewhere they can have a shower, a hot drink and breakfast and store their belongings. It will remain open till the end of February.
