Wards’ hits £10,000 fundraising milestone for local charity Off the Record!

Wards Solicitors has reached its fundraising target of £10,000 to support local mental health charity Off the Record.

Lawyers and support teams at Wards chose Bristol-based OTR as their charity partner from 2019 to 2022, and hit the ambitious target earlier this year, despite the challenges of fundraising during the pandemic when most events were cancelled and staff were often home-based.

Fundraising events held to raise money included a mammoth 100-mile bike ride around Wards’ South West offices, sponsored walks, prize raffles, pub quizzes, cake sales and fancy dress days organised by staff.

Commenting, managing partner Jenny Pierce said “We have been very proud to support Off the Record as our chosen charity.  It does incredibly important work with young people in our region, helping to give them a voice and providing counselling and practical support. The charity also works hard to dispel some of the myths and prejudices surrounding mental health.   We hope we have been able to make a real impact on the valuable work that it does with young people.”

OTR Chief Executive Karen Black added: “We are really grateful to Wards for choosing us and supporting OTR as charity of the year. All the events (including the running and cycling!) that you organised raised funds for us and will be used to support local young people with their emotional and mental wellbeing. Now more than ever, charities like OTR need the support of local companies to ensure that we can try and meet the needs in our community – a big thanks once again.”
