Three years on from the merger of two local law firms, Wards Solicitor’s team in Clevedon has now almost doubled in size. Wards and Tanner Vowles and Cheshire merged in May 2005. Since then, the Clevedon branch of this 10 office firm has grown from four lawyers to seven. The latest arrivals are Partner, Martin Keegan, who relocates from the firm’s central Bristol office and family lawyer, Suzanne Henderson, who joins from a firm in Essex.
Martin is one of the senior Partners at Wards and for him, relocating to Clevedon completes a circle. He moved to Clevedon from Lancashire in 1968 with his parents and, as a student when home from University, worked for the local Post Office, bar-tended at the now closed Pier Hotel, and washed-up at Mon Plaisir on Hill Road. He trained at and then qualified as a Solicitor at JR Brown & Co’s Bristol Office and then following merger, to partnership at Wards.
Commenting on the growth, Martin Keegan says,”We’re delighted that the merger of two strong legal names has been a success. Tanner Vowles and Cheshire were founded in Bristol over 100 years ago and have been a presence in Clevedon since the 1930s”.
He added, “We always felt that Clevedon offered opportunities and, the fact that we’ve nearly doubled in size in only three years, seems to confirm this. Wards now offer the complete range of business and personal legal services in Clevedon. Personally, after a 40 year absence, I’m delighted to be back in the familiar surroundings from my youth!”
