Wards Solicitors are proud to sponsor William Hogarth: Painter & Printmaker exhibition – 16th May to 31st August.
Tate Britain is lending almost its entire collection of oil paintings by William Hogarth to Bristol Museum & Art Gallery for the most comprehensive show of the artist’s work ever in the South West.
From portraiture to satire to history painting; the exhibition will introduce the diverse range of subjects that were tackled by this iconic painter and printmaker. Hogarth’s well-known satirical prints from Bristol Museum & Art Gallery’s permanent collection will also feature in the exhibition.
Laura Pye, Head of Culture at Bristol City Council said:
“We are incredibly proud to be selected by Tate as the only regional partner, particularly considering William Hogarth’s connection to Bristol.”
Hogarth used his work to comment on society and explore themes including crime, sex and political corruption. Many of the themes in his works are still considered relevant today and make his art easily accessible to modern audiences.
David Sheridan, Managing Partner at Wards Solicitors said:
“We are proud to be located at the heart of Bristol City Centre. Important, national exhibitions such as William Hogarth: Painter & Printmaker coming to Bristol, play a significant part in maintaining the rich cultural life that we enjoy in this city. We’re delighted to be associated with and to support the exhibition.”
