Wards Solicitors expands its Trusts Team – now one of the most experienced in the South West

Wards Solicitors has expanded its well-respected Trusts team with new appointments, enhancing its specialist legal knowledge in this area.

This exciting growth, at a time of rising demand for the team’s services, means more clients will be able to benefit from the team's technical expertise and excellent client service.  Appointments in person are now available at all 13 Wards’ offices.

A bigger, specialist Trusts Team

Associate Solicitor Christine Wonnacott is the newest member of the team and joins Wards after 22 years with RWK Goodman in Bath. She has specialised in Trusts law for around half of her 30-year private client law career.

She joins Partner Mary Harty, who has specialised in Trusts since 2005 and worked at Wards for 27 years, alongside Solicitor Klerwi Le Fol-Caraës and Associate Solicitor, Caroline Williams, who became part of the team in January. Partner Ruth Coles will oversee the new team.

Says Partner Tom Scoffham, the new Service Manager for Wills and Probate: “I am delighted that Christine Wonnacott and Caroline Williams have recently joined our already experienced Trusts Team of Partner Mary Harty and trust administrator Klerwi Le Fol-Caraës.

“Christine and Caroline have extensive experience and skill in this complex area, which combined with Mary’s existing expertise mean that Wards has one of the most experienced trust departments in the South West.”

Broad range of Trusts advice

The Wards’ Trusts team offers specialist advice on the creation of trusts, asset protection, administration of trusts and estates, life interest trust and discretionary trusts. It can also offer guidance to existing trustees in respect of their duties and obligations.

Partner Mary Harty, who says her career-long aim has been to ‘demystify trusts for clients’, adds: “At a time of increasing demand for our services, it’s great to be able to offer our expertise and excellent service at a local level to even more clients.

“Our trust team is very happy to work with existing advisers and is used to working in collaboration with a client’s accountant and/or financial advisers to make the process as straightforward as possible. We also welcome referrals from law firms with complex trust matters requiring an ongoing trust service.”

  • Wards Solicitors is endorsed as a South West leading firm in the independent Legal 500 list for 2024 with Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate highlighted as a recommended practice area.
