Bowled over in Nailsea
The sun shone on Nailsea Bowls club as it hosted the Wards Charity Crown Green Cup raising more than £600 for St Peter's Hospice.
Nailsea Bowls Club took on Congresbury Bowls Club in an exciting sporting event watched by many people keen to witness a new type of bowling described as more informal than the conventional game.
After the match, in which Nailsea scored 199 and Congresbury 152, Wards Solicitors' Partner, Rebecca Purchase, who works in the Nailsea office, presented the cup as well as engraved Wards Solicitors glasses to every member of the winning team.
Rebecca said: "I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and loved chatting to all the spectators and players. It was great to support a local event at which so many people had such a good time and helped raise money for St Peter's Hospice."
Wards Solicitors was the main sponsor for the afternoon's bowling - the only Crown Green game played in the South of England - held at Mizzymead Sports and Social Club. There was also a raffle, a bar and food.
