Martial arts medal for Dawn

Wards Solicitor's own Dawn Emmery certainly cut a dash at an international sword martial art competition in Germany, bringing home a bronze medal.

Along with 140 competitors from as far afield as Russia and Mexico, Dawn travelled to the First Haidong Gumdo German Open in Koln as part of a UK team of 12 which scooped a total of 15 medals including gold, silver and bronze.

Dawn, who joined Wards Solicitors in 2017 working in the Disputes Team with Solicitor Associate James Murray in the Weston-super-Mare office, was delighted with her medal.

"We all had a fantastic time and the team felt a real sense of achievement doing so well at this high level," she added.

Haidong Gumdo is a Korean sword martial art for students of all ages which has been steadily growing in popularity in the UK since it was introduced in 2014. It consists of sword forms, targeted paper and bamboo cutting and other disciplines using wooden, foam and metal training swords.
