New appeal to help Bristol’s hospitals – why we’re getting involved

The countdown is on to the start of an exciting campaign to boost funds for Bristol's NHS hospitals and Wards Solicitors is delighted to be on board, ready to match the first £7,000 raised.

To mark the 70th birthday of the NHS, The Big Bristol Give NHS70 will run for two weeks from July 2 to 13 with a target of £70,000 to not only support Bristol's city centre hospitals but say a big thank you to the 9,000 staff who work in them.

Paul Kearney, Chief Executive of Above & Beyond - of which The Big Bristol Give appeal is a part - said: "This is a really exciting time for the NHS and Above & Beyond and we want to make sure we give the hospitals the best ever birthday present.

"The money raised will make a real difference to patients, their families and the staff who treat them in Bristol's city centre hospitals."

Close to our hearts

Wards Solicitors is excited to be involved from the outset and to get the ball rolling.

Jenny Pierce, Wards Solicitors' Partner and head of the Wills, Probate and Mental Capacity Team, said: "The NHS, and the people who work within it, are very close to all our hearts.

"The £7,000 we are so pleased to donate comes from the Wards Solicitors' Centenary Fund, which was set up by the staff of Wards, specifically to support local causes. The fund was started over a decade ago to commemorate the firm's 100th birthday. We hope this donation will spur people on to give as generously as they can.

"The success of the appeal is based on as many people as possible passing on details of when and how to give - so share, share, share the news!"
