Stepping up and out for charity

Up hill and down dale, and through some of Somerset's most beautiful countryside, a team from Wards Solicitors has just completed the demanding Nailsea 20K Challenge to help raise money for charity.

Amy Jones, Kelly Leggett and Rebecca Purchase, all from the Nailsea offices, joined other walkers to battle through wind and rain, following a picturesque route that took in Backwell, Sores Court and Chelvey Batch and provided magnificent views of Tyntesfield and the Failand Ridge.

The team made it back in four hours, in the process raising £266 for Wards Solicitors' charity of the year, BRACE, which is based in Bristol and funds vital medical research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of dementia, particularly Alzheimer's.

Rebecca said: "It was quite a tough walk but we managed to complete it in what we were assured is a respectable time. We were delighted to take part in such a brilliant event in the heart of the community we work in and for such a worthwhile cause."

Last year, the Annual Nailsea Charity Walks and Runs - there is a 5k and 10k route as well - raised £20,000 for various charities and the organisers, Nailsea & Backwell Rotary, are hoping to do even better this year.
