Wards Solicitors, paddling with panache
Dressed as bathing belles, Wards Solicitors' took to the water in style to take part in this year's Dragon Boat race held at Bristol Docks.
Not only did the crew, made up of staff from all 11 offices, cut a sartorial dash as they paddled, they also managed their best ever placing, coming in 17th out of 30 teams, and only missing out on a semi final position by a few seconds.
The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Bristol Breakfast, is now in its 16th year. It is a hugely popular occasion and this year's sunny weather made it even more fun than usual.
Wards Solicitors' Bathing Belles raised £1,000 through sponsorship, half going to the event's headline charity, Southmead Hospital Charity's Prostate Cancer Care Appeal, and the rest to Wards Centenary Fund which was set up over a decade ago to commemorate the firm's 100th birthday and specifically to support local causes. The Charitable Fund is administered by Quartet Community Foundation.
Partner Jenny Pierce, Head of the Wills, Probate and Mental Capacity team at Wards Solicitors, said: "We had a great day down at the docks in Bristol with a fantastic team spirit. The crew did themselves proud and all the Wards staff played their part from helping setting up and unpacking to providing a feast for lunch.
"Thank you also to everyone who gave money and sponsored the Team - we'll be back next year!"
