Quiz night with a purpose – Wards Solicitors’ Trainees help important charity

Wards Solicitors' latest trainee lawyers, both volunteers with the charity Personal Support Unit Bristol, rallied support from their colleagues to make up a team for its annual pub quiz.

Ciaran Keane and Charlotte Gage, both with less than a year to go until they qualify, were joined by Mohamed Abdi, a solicitor in our New Homes team, and Natalya Jarrett, part of the Bristol reception team.

Charlotte, now working in the Wills and Probate department in our Keynsham office, said: "It was a fantastic, fun night and a great way to help an important charity which does so much good work to improve access to justice for those who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer when they attend court."

Free and independent service

The Personal Support Unit (PSU) is a charity supporting people who face court alone and without legal representation so that they can represent themselves to the best of their ability with the greatest chance of achieving a just result.

The charity, which does not give legal advice, provides wide ranging help - everything from explaining what is going to happen in court to helping fill out forms and referring people to legal service agencies.

Supported by 700 volunteers nationally at courts up and down the country - all trained to help people without legal representation as they go through the court process - the service is free, independent and confidential and offered equally to everyone who asks.

Wars Solicitors has strong links with PSU Bristol and its trainee lawyers have all volunteered with the charity for the last three years.
