Wards Solicitors’ acclaimed personal injury team continues to grow

The level of expertise within Wards Solicitors' personal injury team, a department with a growing reputation for excellence across the region, has been further heightened by the arrival of solicitor associate Angela Carnell.

She joins a team headed by partner Alison Underhill, a personal injury and medical negligence specialist who has worked in this field for 28 years, and will work alongside Helen Boyd who has specialised in personal injury litigation for more than 20 years and Richard Green whose areas of specialism include asbestos related illness and accidents involving animals.

Proven track record

Angela, who herself brings 20 years' experience to her role and is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, has a proven track record and has dealt with a wide variety of personal injury matters including road traffic accidents as well as accidents at work, fatal accidents, public liability, occupier liability and claims arising from faulty products.

Examples of her work include acting for a lorry driver and a car driver involved in the multi-vehicle collision that occurred on the M5 near Taunton in 2011. The coroner concluded the accident was caused by dense fog (the smoke from a nearby firework display may have been a contributory factor). Damages were recovered for whiplash injuries to the neck and back and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Growing reputation

Wards Solicitors' accident and injury team is already recognised for its work in the personal injury field. Both Alison Underhill and Helen Boyd are listed as notable practitioners by the Chambers and Partners 2017, a guide which ranks the best lawyers across the UK.

And partner Alison Underhill is singled out for praise in the Legal 500 2016, a clients' guide to the best UK law firms, which also recommends the firm for its medical negligence work. It cites: "Under the leadership of Alison Underhill, Wards Solicitors provides 'excellent service' in claims involving delayed cancer diagnosis and surgical negligence."

Welcome

Alison is delighted to welcome Angela. "Angela brings a depth of knowledge and experience of personal injury work over many years and will be a real asset to the Team," she said.

Wards Solicitors' has 11 local offices and anyone who lives or works in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset areas will find one within a ten mile radius with solicitors local to them.
