Wards Solicitors' contentious trusts and probate team has been recommended in the latest edition of the prestigious Legal 500 guide for 2017, an independent publication which recommends legal firms and individual lawyers based on merit.

Wards Solicitors is singled out for its 'excellent service' in this area of the law and its 'extremely diligent team' which displays 'a firm but unaggressive style' demonstrating 'willingness to find solutions through alternative dispute solution when it is possible to do so'.

Head of the team, partner Elizabeth Fry, who acts in contested Court of Protection applications and Inheritance Act disputes, is praised as 'very thorough and always keeps the client informed as to what is going on'. Her recent cases include acting for a client on both a claim relating to a constructive trust under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and a proprietary estoppel claim.

Also singled out for praise are Ian Williamson as 'a very astute lawyer and litigator' who 'genuinely invests his efforts in trying to get the best results for clients over and above generating fees' and Solicitor Associate, Emma Kerry - who has experience in handling undue influence challenges to the validity of Wills - is 'very good with clients and prepares clear and concise instructions'.
