Helping the RUH by helping people make a Will
Hats off to all the solicitors - including lawyers from Wards Solicitors' Keynsham office - who helped raise an amazing £25,000 by taking part in the Bath Royal United Hospitals' Make a Will Month 2018.
Along with ten other firms in the region, we gave up our time free of charge last September to write basic Wills in exchange for a suggested minimum donation to the Forever Friends Appeal which supports the work of the RUH.
Jan Witt, RUH's In Memory and Legacy officer, said Make a Will Month 2018 had been a 'sell-out month' with Will writing appointments booked up within the first fortnight.
She added: "RUH Will Month has been running for four years and has proved invaluable to the Appeal.
"Not only does it raise significant funds towards the work we do helping to fund projects and equipment for all areas across the hospital, it also provides a yearly reminder to the public to focus on getting their affairs in order to ensure their savings and possessions go to the people they love and care for."
Involved from the start
Wards Solicitors has been involved with the scheme since it began, helping to make a significant difference to patient care in that time, and was last year made a corporate partner after raising a notable £10,000.
Partner Ruth Coles, Wards Solicitors' Keynsham office manager and part of the Wills, Probate and Mental Capacity team, added: "We are always delighted to lend our support to such a fantastic initiative."
We will, of course, be taking part again this coming September.
