Alison has over 25 years’ experience in family law and particular expertise in financial provision following relationship breakdown.

Alison provides clients with expert legal advice on all aspects of family law including:

Agreements

Advising upon, drafting and concluding agreements entered into before marriage (pre-nuptial agreements) or during a marriage (post nuptial). This is particularly relevant if a couple have property or assets of their own or with their wider family.

Divorce/separation

Alison will guide clients through their options and advise on the different legal processes, drafting documents and communicating with the other party /their solicitor if required.

Children arrangements

Advising and assisting to reach agreement about children and the arrangements for spending time with, in most cases both parents, whilst focussing on their interests; Preparation of parenting agreements; Supporting Mediation with legal advice; Advising in connection with specific issues for example relocation, holidays and educational decisions; Advising in connection with court applications and representation at court

Finances

Advising in connection with financial issues requires an understanding of the client’s needs and objectives, what the assets, resources and means of the parties are and what is a fair outcome. Whether a client’s main concern is the family home, income, pensions or business interests Alison will apply her expert legal knowledge with practical advice and understanding to their circumstances. We can access a wide range of expertise both internally and externally where required for example in relation to trusts, financial planning, business structure and pensions.

Alison has experience of acting for clients where one or more parties reside in another country or where assets are based abroad.

Court and Alternative Dispute Resolution

Alison is a trained collaborative lawyer and will help clients decide upon the most effective way of reaching the decisions that need to be made when a relationship ends. Alison supports working co-operatively where possible to minimise conflict, reduce costs and enable all parties to move forward constructively.

Where it is necessary to apply to the court Alison can represent you in Court and has appeared on behalf of clients in the Family Court in Bristol and the wider South West area.

  • Qualified as a Solicitor in 1998
  • Family Law Advanced Accreditation with the Law Society
  • Resolution Accredited specialist in Financial Provision and Children Law
  • Collaborative Lawyer
  • Has specialised in Family Law cases since 1990
