Services For Your Business
Disputes can be an unwelcome distraction to running a business. Our team are used to working for businesses to minimise the disruption that disputes cause.
Whether your business is large or small, and whatever sector you’re in, our disputes team are experienced, commercial negotiators. We focus on what’s important to you and try to avoid confusing things with an overly legalistic approach. Importantly, we strive for practical, business-focused solutions whether that means going through formal Court and arbitration proceedings or employing alternative dispute resolution techniques.
We can help with most business disputes including those relating to:
"Its been refreshing to deal with somebody as professional and efficient as yourself, especially your prompt communication throughout. These seem to be rare attributes these days."
"James dealt with matters very efficiently and empathetically and always answered telephone calls and queries the same day - excellent communication from him."
"Richard dealt with my case very effectively, in a friendly and professional manner, and I was always treated with respect. I will definitely use Wards again."
Litigation and going to court should never be entered into lightly. If you are considering it then it’s important to call us to seek advice. We’ll be able to discuss your individual case and advise you on whether it’s the best option, taking everything into account. It may be that other options, such as ADR (alternative dispute resolution) will be more practical.
Wherever possible we work to try to resolve your case as quickly as possible and we often use a formal mediation process to help us do this. This is actively encouraged by the Court. We can offer a specialised mediation service with our qualified and accredited specialists.
If Court action is necessary we will put together the best team to help with your individual case. This means drawing on a wide variety of specialist experts, as well as barristers. Going to Court raises the stakes, since losing at trial can mean you pay the other side’s legal costs. As holders of the Law Society’s Lexcel quality mark, however, you can rest assured that we will prepare your case thoroughly and professionally to maximise your chances of success.
Litigation can be an expensive business, particularly if you require specialist evidence. There are various ways in which your claim can be funded and part of our first meeting will be to discuss all the options with you. Whether paying privately or through legal expenses insurance we’ll provide a realistic estimate at the outset and pay close attention to the costs – we can even stage payments. The most important thing is that the costs don’t outweigh the benefits to you.
Cases with a value of up to £10,000.00 normally take between three to six months. Cases with a value of between £10,000.00 and £25,000.00 can take between a year to eighteen months to settle. Cases with a value above £25,000.00 can take longer depending on the complexity of the case.
