Another boost to Wards Solicitors’ Contentious Probate team

Wards Solicitors' now has three contentious probate lawyers who are members of the prestigious Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).

Partner Ian Williamson has just completed the intensive two-year qualification course to become an associate member.

He now joins partner Elizabeth Fry and associate solicitor Emma Kerry, who are both full members of ACTAPS, an accreditation awarded two years after qualifying as an associate with an accompanying full listing on the organisation's main database for public reference.

ACTAPS, as well as ensuring that its members are specialists in dealing with contentious probate cases, has also produced a Code of Conduct which they must adhere to including:

  • Considering alternative dispute resolution and making sure clients are aware of the cost advantages of this and that court proceedings are seen as the last resort.
  • Advising clients of costs at the outset and the cost and funding implications of court action and ensuring that these costs are reviewed on a regular basis

The main aim of ACTAPS is to provide clear guidance for solicitors dealing with contentious probate cases, whichever side they are acting for.

For help and advice on contentious probate issues please contact Wards Solicitors' Contentious Probate team or pop into one of Wards Solicitors' 11 local offices.
