Speed, power, drama - it was all happening on Clevedon seafront as 20 powerboats took to the water for two days of thrills and spills.

Organised by Clevedon Chamber of Commerce, with president Paul Anslow at the helm, the town hosted rounds nine and ten of the Royal Yachting Association's ThunderCat Championship.

The exciting event was supported by a number of local businesses including Wards Solicitors' who sponsored a boat.

Heather Jones, commercial property specialist and Head of Business Services and Commercial Property at Wards Solicitors', said: "We were delighted to sponsor a boat and even more delighted that Team Hoonigan - Microlink - Ahmad Tea came first overall during the weekend."

Heather, who is based in North Somerset, added: "The racing was very exciting and was a fantastic event for Clevedon to host. Thanks to Clevedon Chamber of Commerce and all those who helped organise this excellent weekend."

During the event, around 20 boats, known as racing gigs, took part in a two day relay race, with live commentary, between the Marine Lake and Clevedon Pier. Many came to watch as people took the opportunity to enjoy this exhilarating water sport over the Bank Holiday weekend.
