Wards teams up with dementia charity Alive Activities
Wards Solicitors is excited to announce its new charity partnership with Alive Activities, a Bristol-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of people living with dementia and their carers.
Alive delivers an important range of support services and community activity across Bristol and North Somerset, including its Dementia Meeting Centres which provide practical and social support. The charity also offers therapeutic gardening sessions in care homes and community gardens and runs the Hoppiness Project, which sees care home residents growing hops to brew beer, in conjunction with Bristol brewery Wiper and True.
The partnership builds on an existing relationship between Wards and Alive. Last year, 20 Wards staff spent the day as volunteers at Alive’s allotment in north Bristol, helping to maintain the gardens and community spaces.
Alive also delivered dementia awareness training for Wards’ Wills and Probate team earlier this year, helping staff develop a deeper understanding of dementia and the needs of clients and families affected by the condition.
Importantly, the partnership reflects Wards’ commitment to supporting older people and families within the local community, alongside the firm’s work advising clients on later-life planning and care-related matters.
Jenny Pierce, Managing Partner at Wards Solicitors, said:
“Alive Activities is a hugely valuable resource within our local community, providing meaningful support, connection and opportunities for people living with dementia and for those who care for them.
We are delighted to be partnering with the charity and we are looking forward to supporting the important work they do over the coming months.”
Wards will provide fundraising support to Alive Activities throughout the year, with staff across the firm taking part to raise money and volunteer. Plans already include a 100-mile charity bike ride linking Wards’ regional offices in September, as well as fundraising at Wards’ summer events.
CEO of Alive, Isobel Jones said: “Alive Activities is delighted to be partnering with Wards Solicitors. We already have such a strong foundation to build from, having welcomed staff to our allotments and delivered dementia awareness training with the team, and we’re excited to see how the partnership develops over the next year or so.
In such a challenging funding landscape for charities, this kind of support is invaluable. Partnerships like this are about far more than fundraising — they help build dementia awareness, create meaningful connections within our community, and support our mission to light up later life for people living with dementia and their carers.”
