Will writing fortnight brings in record sum for St Peter’s Hospice

Wards Solicitors pulled out all the stops to help make St Peter's Hospice's Will Fortnight Campaign 2016 a record success.

Staff across nine offices got involved, giving up their usual Will writing fees to prepare basic Wills for people who in turn made a donation to St Peter's, and together brought in an incredible £17,580 of the £25,845 raised. With gift aid, this total was boosted to more than £31,000.

St Peter's Corporate Fundraiser, Edd Smith, said: "The total raised this year has far exceeded any previous campaign. I would like to extend a huge thank you to all who were involved. The amount raised is incredible and very close to a whole day's worth of funding for the Hospice.

"Last year alone, we provided care to over 2,200 patients and bereavement and grief support to over 6,000 family members and loved ones, including children. It is with the support and generosity of people like Wards Solicitors and their clients that we are able to care for local people."

Wards Solicitors' offices in Portishead, Keynsham, Bradley Stoke, Broad Street and Henleaze all raised more than £2,000 during the charity's Will Fortnight and Clevedon, Nailsea, Staple Hill and Yate all collected more than £1,000.

Partner Jenny Pierce, head of the Wills, Probate and Mental Capacity team at Wards Solicitors said: "St Peter's Hospice plays a vital role in our community and we were delighted to help out."
