Services For You
This offence can cover a wide range of incidents, from simple driving mistakes such as crossing the white line in the middle of the road, to those involving a collision.
If you are guilty of the offence, you can receive an unlimited fine, 3 – 9 penalty points or, in certain circumstances, you can be disqualified from driving immediately.
A person is guilty of the offence if they drive a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or public place.
What amounts to Careless Driving is a matter for the court to decide and the arguments for and against the offence being committed can be technical and detailed and may require experts to prepare a forensic report.
As such, early preparation is essential for putting together a defence or when mitigating the penalties as much as possible.
