Dangerous Driving

Dangerous driving is one of the more serious driving offences.  It is charged where the standard of driving has gone beyond merely careless driving and is deemed to be dangerous.

This can include things that cause an obvious danger like driving on the pavement, racing or high speed chases, but it can also include such things as using a mobile phone for a prolonged period, driving while tired or unwell or with an overloaded vehicle.

A conviction for the offence would result in at least a community order and very often custodial sentence of up to 2 years.

The offence also comes with a minimum period of disqualification of 12 months and, in addition, any dangerous driving offence will require an extended re-test before your licence will be returned.

Given the seriousness of the outcome, early advice is essential in preparing a defence or mitigating the penalties as much as possible in order to avoid or reduce the length of any sentence and disqualification.
