Legal 500 legal guide praises Wards Solicitors’ lawyers
The commitment of Wards Solicitors' lawyers as well as their 'thoroughly professional, honest and helpful advice' have once again been singled out for praise in the latest edition of the prestigious Legal 500 guide for 2020.
Three key service areas are named in this year's guide, an independent publication which uses feedback from satisfied clients as one of the key means of determining its rankings.
Clinical negligence
Advising on a wide range of clinical negligence issues including delayed cancer diagnosis, the incorrect reporting of an x-ray and a prescription error as well as negligent surgery and inadequate provision of antenatal care, the team is praised for its commitment to client care and efficient management of claims.
Head of the team, Partner Alison Underhill, is highly recommended.
Personal Injury
Wards Solicitors, says the guide, regularly advises on claims arising from fatal road accidents, workplace injuries and injuries caused by dog attacks.
Alison Underhill - who advises on fatal accident claims, psychological injuries after being assaulted at work as well as on fractures and facial injuries caused by trips and slips - is once again described as 'excellent' for providing 'professional advice in a supportive manner'.
Personal tax, trusts and probate
Highlighted work carried out by the team includes advising on extricating clients from trusts, assisting with deputyship applications, advising on statutory Will applications and an inheritance tax reduction on a £1 million estate including advice on charitable exemption and business property relief.
It is described as providing a wide range of legal advice to local businesses, high-net-worth individuals and wealthy families as well as being experienced in assisting elderly and vulnerable clients with asset protection and the securing of care home funding.
Four members of the team, headed by Partner Jenny Pierce, are specifically mentioned and the team is commended for 'a very professional and friendly service in respect of Will updating and rewriting as well as the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney'.
Partner Rebecca Purchase is described by a client as having a 'reassuring, professional and sympathetic manner' which 'helped enormously'.
While Partner Ruth Coles 'dealt with matters in an efficient and timely manner and has always been proactive in keeping me up to date'.
Andrew Wareham and Tom Scoffham, both Partners, are also named.
